Diana Jimenez, CNSA Vice President 2011-2012
Diana was born in Salem, Massachusetts, and has lived on the East and West Coast throughout her life. She comes from a Dominican culture and speaks Spanish fluently. She enjoys traveling, art, culture, laughing, trying new ethnic foods, hiking, singing, and giving back to the community. She hopes to further her education to one day attain a DNP degree. She is committed to providing compassionate, quality health care to those who are in need and dreams of someday being involved in cross-cultural medical missions.
Vice President's Goals 2011-2012
Goal #1:
To have a full panel of pre-slated candidates for the CNSA annual convention. This will be achieved by having the nominations and elections packet available at the membership meetings as well as online on the homepage of the CNSA website.
- I will partner with Membership Director North and South to encourage CNSA members to apply for Board and committee positions.
- I will also encourage and inform the membership about my experience being on the board.
Goal #2:
To revise CNSA bylaws as deemed necessary by the board of directors or constituent membership by discussing possible alterations and the reasoning behind the desire to change.
Goal #3:
To review at least 8 chapter bylaws as well as assist new chapters in writing their own bylaws.
- This will be achieved by receiving copies of constituent chapter bylaws from at least half of CNSA chapters by sending out email blasts and personally attempting to contact each individual chapter.
Goal #4: To support the IOM report recommendation #5: “Double the number of nurses with a doctorate by 2020,” with attention to increasing diversity.
- I plan to assist the Breakthrough to Nursing Director, Andrea Vega, in her BTN projects to help promote nursing for underrepresented students including males and minorities.
- This will be accomplished by keeping in close contact with the BTN Director, as well as visiting/emailing at least 3 schools of nursing with a wide diversity of students.
- Also, I will create a resource link on the CNSA website where members can find resources for funding and available doctorate nursing programs. This includes being in connection with the Human Resources and Services Administration.
