Hello!
My name is April and I am thrilled to be serving on your CNSA board as Secretary/Treasurer for this upcoming year! I am currently completing my third semester at San Francisco State University working toward my BSN degree and will graduate in December 2008. I have been involved in the NSA since my first year of nursing school where I have enjoyed helping out with various projects including organizing our annual blood drive, participating in health fairs, and visiting elderly patients at local LTC facilities in the city. During my time at SFSU I have also been involved in the Student Health Advisory Committee as Secretary, VP, and eventually President where I had the opportunity to reach out to our campus community by promoting health awareness and improving services at our student health center.
Along with nursing, my passion is travelling. This past summer I attended a nursing study abroad program in Cyprus where I was able to experience first-hand another country’s healthcare system and in the meantime got to know the culture and wonderful people who reside there. Next summer, I hope to study medical Spanish in South America. One of my long-term goals is to do some form of international nursing, preferably in a volunteer organization such as Doctors Without Borders.
If you would like any more information about me or my goals in this office, please do not hesitate to contact me at sectreas@cnsa.org. Thank you and I look forward to our next year together!
