I am Mary Gills, a student at Golden West College. My central mission is an integrative approach to chair the communications committee thru the perspective of “nobody is 100% wrong”. My framework embraces the perspectives of “truth, beauty, and goodness”, also known as art, morals, and science. In nursing we tend to focus on the morals and science perspectives, but the art (of communications) perspective is vital for a beautiful experience. Beyond mere survival, beauty is what makes life worth living; don’t you think? I have been in the legal, medical and nursing publishing industries and a communication consultant. After taking a decade break, borrowed from my retirement years, I re-entered the workforce, in the fascinating field of life and death, as a unit secretary and telemetry tech for Cardiac Critical Unit (CCU). It was in the hospital where I saw the first hand affects of good scientific communication (but I must admit the beauty part was often missing).
